Asics launched 4 new shoes - GelCumulus26F, GelNimbus26M, MetaSpeed Paris & NovaBlast4M - all with their own character and unique story to tell.
Rōnin and Wonder Vision visualised these stories in beautiful 3D worlds, each with their very own visual concept and feel.
To go accompany these visualisations, I’ve sound designed a unique audio world from scratch for each individual shoe.
The storytelling leads, and creates a very fun dynamic audio landscape with ups and downs and loads of contrast - very slowly resolving into a consistent beat towards the end.
This was a very fun and challenging project and I’m proud of the result. Watch the detailed breakdown per shoe below.
NovaBlast4M
For this film I’ve worked with loads of different types of foam, which gave me a lot of room to create risers, fades and other type of impacts. It was a lot of fun to see how far I could push it (and was totally worth the confused looks I got at the DIY store when buying all the foam).
GelCumulus26M
This track needed to be comfortable and cushioning, just like the shoe itself. With a touch of liquid textures and prickling bubbles sprinkled through to still give it a tactile sound.
GelNimbus26F
Here I’ve worked with all types of liquids, oils and underwater type sounds (very fun to record) to highlight the new PureGel technology.
MetaSpeed Paris
Last but not least: The MetaSpeed Paris.
To highlight the insane speeds you can achieve with the revolutionary carbon plate technology in this shoe I’ve worked with whooshes, doppler effects. This was a very cool trip from the first 3 shoes, this one being way faster - while still keeping the ‘sound mind’ feel of the general Asics brand.
